Hiking & Via Ferrata in the Dolomites
Six days in the heart of the Dolomites, starting in Cortina d'Ampezzo and continuing hut to hut between Sassolungo and Catinaccio. Each day you choose to hike the trails or climb the via ferrata, with a guide either way, past the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, World War I history and the summit of Catinaccio d'Antermoia, with a new mountain refuge and Alpine cuisine every night.
Discover the heart of the Dolomites on a six-day adventure that begins in the elegant mountain town of Cortina d'Ampezzo and continues with a four-day hut-to-hut journey through the breathtaking terrain between Sassolungo and Catinaccio. This trip blends two of the Dolomites' greatest traditions: scenic hiking trails and thrilling via ferrata routes. Each day you choose your own adventure, hike the trails or climb the via ferrata, and either way a guide leads the way.

Getting Your Bearings
The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage site in the northern Italian Alps, with more than 100 peaks over 3,000 metres and some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in Europe. The trip starts in Cortina d'Ampezzo, the "Pearl of the Dolomites," less than a two-hour drive from Venice Marco Polo Airport. Close enough for an easy arrival, far enough to feel a world away.
Trip Highlights
- Rifugio Nuvolau, the oldest mountain hut in the Dolomites, with the Cinque Torri rock towers and original World War I trenches and tunnels below
- The Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the undisputed symbol of the Dolomites, by trail or by via ferrata through a historic wartime tunnel
- A high route along the jagged Sassolungo range, with via ferrata options from short climbs to a big day on Sassopiatto
- The summit of Catinaccio d'Antermoia (3,004 m), the highest peak of the Catinaccio group, finishing on an exposed ridge to the summit cross
- A thrilling cable-assisted scramble beneath the famous Vajolet Towers
- A night at the new Rifugio Passo Santner, perched at 8,970 ft with views stretching to the Swiss and Austrian Alps

Hike or Climb, Your Choice
Whether you're striding through alpine meadows or clipped into iron cables on a vertical rock face, every day offers a new kind of adventure. Hikers follow some of the most scenic trails in the range, while those drawn to the vertical world can choose via ferrata routes that build from beginner-friendly to bigger, more rewarding climbs. Mix and match as the week unfolds.

Life in the Rifugios
Each night brings a new mountain refuge, warm hospitality and authentic Alpine cuisine beneath a sky full of stars. Stays range from a comfortable inn with private rooms and 360° views, to a simple hut full of authentic Alpine character, to an ultra-modern hut where each couple enjoys a private double room.

Who This Trip Is For
This trip balances challenge and comfort, perfect for those who want to truly immerse themselves in the Dolomites. Expect roughly 3 to 6 hours on the move most days on rocky mountain trails, with good fitness and sure footing recommended.
